In April, the company formalised the acquisition of Grupo Prisa's pay television and, after two frantic months of work, managed to integrate teams and content to launch, that same year, the most complete television proposal on the market. Movistar + has since become a platform for entertainment, sports, fiction and in-house productions that sets it apart and is key to Movistar's integrated offer in Spain.
Telefónica is, and always has been, a network company. Its vocation to provide excellent connectivity over which all digital services can run is, during these years, particularly intense. The deployment of fibre in Spain and all countries continues unstoppably and very soon there will be more fibre under the streets in our country - and more customers enjoying it - than in all the other countries around us combined. Brazil is also beginning to stand out for its extensive fibre network - more than 17 million homes and businesses covered - and LTE penetration - the fourth generation of mobile - is above 75% in Europe. At the same time, Telefónica España is initiating another crucial project for the transformation of the networks towards what the future requires of us: The first two copper exchanges will be "switched off", with the ambition to reach the Centenary with a 100% fibre optic network.
The new website of the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid, developed with the support of Telefónica and designed to offer visitors a unique experience, will be presented at the end of the year. The new site is organised by content modules and allows the interrelation of more than 10,000 works with their 1,800 authors, different years and all related documentation.
Telefónica is starting 2015 with high expectations for the motorbike team it sponsors, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP. Its two riders, Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, had finished a very promising 2014 season, and for Telefónica, supporting motorcycling made sense, not only as a sporting sponsorship, but also as premium content for Movistar TV (now Movistar Plus +). In addition to motorcycling, the company continues to support other sports with which it shares commitment and values, from cycling with Movistar Team to the men's and women's national football team, of course basketball with Movistar Estudiantes and multiple events and competitions in this sport, and athletics and triathlon with Javier Gómez Noya, five-time world champion, silver medalist at the London 2012 Olympic Games, National Sports Award and Spanish Olympic Committee Award for best athlete in 2015
